Jon Miller

Co-Founder & Chairman

Jonathan Miller is the co-founder and Chairman of Aktivate. He was the Chief Digital Officer and Chairman and CEO, Digital Media Group for News Corporation, a role in which he drove the Company’s overall digital strategy in conjunction with various operational heads, while also directly overseeing all of News Corp.’s standalone digital businesses. He also acted as News Corp’s principal executive for Hulu.

Previously, Jon was Chairman and CEO of AOL, where he led the company to a record annual profit growth of 21 percent, and increased online advertising growth – the centerpiece of its new business model – by 46 percent in 2006. He also led AOL’s investment in Kayak, which was sold to Priceline.

Earlier in his career, Jon was CEO and President of USA Information and Services -- now IACI and Expedia -- and also served as Managing Director of Nickelodeon International, a unit of Viacom's MTV Networks. From 1987 to 1993, he was Vice President, Programming and Co-General Manager of NBA Entertainment, where he was responsible for league-wide brand management and programming.

Jon has also been an active investor for many years. Jon was a founding partner of Velocity Interactive Group, an investment firm focusing on digital media and the consumer Internet space. He is a co-founder of Fuel Media Commerce, which focused on early stage investments.

Jon is on the Boards of Akamai Technologies, Inc., AMC Networks Inc., Interpublic Group of Companies, Inc., J2 Global, Inc. and TripAdvisor, Inc. In addition, he serves as a non-profit Director/Trustee for the American Film Institute and Paley Center for Media. Jon has been awarded the Inaugural Pioneer Prize, Producers Guild of America, 2005 the Inaugural Vanguard Award, International Emmy Association, 2006 the Digital Power Player of the Year, Hollywood Reporter, 2009 and the Monaco Media Festival, Interactive Pioneer Award, 2010. Jon holds a B.A. with honors from Harvard College.
